Forward Planning in January

If you haven't already done so, then secure your Mother's Day orders now for the 27th March event. Remember to think about a range of prices so little ones can get a £5 and under pocket money gift.

Whilst tradition is the name of the game with this event, bear in mind that the latest fashions in horticulture include succulents and terrariums so consider these to add interest. Flowers are obviously traditional but perhaps you can look at working with a local biscuiteer to make some colourful biscuit gifts. If you don't know anyone try searching for your region on Etsy or Not On The High Street
And log onto Take Time to secure some afternoon tea and local eatery promotions.

You should also be planning your Easter ranges:

Things to consider:

  • What are your opening hours?
  • When do the local schools break up? And go back?
  • Range of adult and kids eggs plus various price points
  • Colour themes for impactive displays
  • Create your own egg hunt as a take home kit or on site if you have appropriate space *

Consider all eggs in your shop, including hen's eggs and collaborate with a local potter for some authentic artisan items to cross merchandise or these wooden bunny ones from Hop & Peck.

And don't forget vegan and sugar free alternatives, like these from Mr. Prempys, Cocoba and Chococo

Introduce hot cross buns early and consider multibuy deals

Buy into some decorative pieces both for your displays and to sell but keep it simple and manage the colours for maximum impact
Don't forget that for some Easter is simply the first long weekend of the year and a chance to share family style, platter sharing meals so start thinking about how that applies to your offer
