Spring has Sprung
March is such an optimistic month as clocks change, we mark the beginning of Spring with the equinox and shoots of beautiful Spring flowers burst through our countryside. This year it starts with lots of fun on Pancake Day and then celebrates Mother’s Day on the 27th so lots of opportunity to engage with your customers.

Don’t forget that we all also seem to start cleaning at this time of year! It is that need to freshen things up after hunkering down over the Winter and the terrible realisation that we get when the sun shines in and we see what needs doing!

March Focus:
Once Pancake Day is over you can really focus on Mother’s Day. Get your Mother’s Day displays and décor up before the second weekend of March at the latest to give your customers at least two weekends before the main event. You can always rotate displays across the weeks so that regular visitors see something different.

Create a Spring Cleaning area in your shop. There are some really great brands and contemporary products which you can bring in for this time of year. Don’t forget that sustainability and ethical brands are increasingly important to your customers. Look into:

Top Tip:
Whilst flowers/plants are the default present for Mum’s don’t forget alternatives like biscuits, cakes, chocolates and even some of the more craft versions like felt or paper flowers. Look for inspiration from suppliers like Madame Oiseau and Felt So Good.

Think about colours so that displays look co-ordinated.

Don’t forget the under £5/under £10 gifts for young children who want to use their pocket money for Mum Breakfast in bed is a great way to celebrate too. Consider chilled boxes with juice, pastries, granola, honey etc. taking inspiration from places like Gail’s Bakery whose online offer is great.
